East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Camp Kitchen in Uganda

Project Project Name - East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Camp Kitchen in Uganda

Project City - Uganda

ProjectProject Overview

East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a 1,443km crude oil export pipeline that will transport Uganda’s crude oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula near Tanga port in Tanzania. It will have a peak capacity of 246,000 bbls/day.The first 296 km of EACOP are in Uganda and the remaining 1147 km are in Tanzania. The 24" insulated pipeline will be buried along its entire length with the top of the pipe being one metre below the surface. Once constructed and buried, the topsoil and surface vegetation will be re-instated and people and animals will be able to pass freely across. Equally the pipeline will pass under crossing points with other infrastructure such as roads, rail lines or cables.

The pipeline route via Tanzania was confirmed in April 2016 at a summit with the East African Heads of State. In the period 2016-2018 the EACOP route was studied and narrowed down to its final width of 30 metres, allowing to then initiate land surveys and the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments.

EACOP runs 1,443km from Kabaale, Hoima district in Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania. 80% of the pipeline is in Tanzania. It is a buried thermally insulated 24″ pipeline along with six pumping stations (two in Uganda and four in Tanzania) ending at Tanga with a Terminal and Jetty. Here crude oil will be loaded onto tankers.

This EACOP will be designed, constructed, financed and operated through a dedicated Pipeline Company with the same name. The shareholders in EACOP are affiliates of the three Upstream joint venture partners (the Uganda National Oil Company, TotalEnergies E&P Uganda and CNOOC Uganda) together with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation.Due to the physical characteristics of Uganda’s crude oil, the oil in the pipeline needs to be maintained at above 50 degrees Celsius. The EACOP pipeline is also able to warm the oil using an electrical trace heating system.

ProjectProject Follow-up

After more than a year of in-depth discussions and preparations, we have successfully signed the EACOP project in Uganda. This large-scale project is expected to require tens of thousands of workers to participate in the construction, creating an opportunity for INEO to provide high-quality, durable kitchen equipment from China. To ensure the smooth accommodation and quality of life for the workers, it is imperative for the organizers to provide a favorable living environment and reliable meal supply. This involves two critical aspects: Accommodation for workers and daily meal supply.

Moreover, rational and efficient meal supply is crucial for such a large workforce. A nutritious and well-prepared daily meal is key to maintaining the workers’ health and energy levels, ensuring they can perform at their best throughout the demanding phases of the project. This is not only vital for the workers' physical and mental well-being but will also directly impact their work efficiency and the overall progress of the project.

Project Overview

Camp Kitchen Layout

INEO has designed a comprehensive kitchen configuration and layout plan for the workers' camp kitchens in the project, aimed at ensuring that the workers can enjoy hearty meals every day. These camp kitchens are distributed across various construction sites and possess a flexible and movable nature, allowing them to be repositioned as needed based on project progress and worker requirements, thus providing a high level of convenience.

Moreover, taking into account the dynamic nature of the project, INEO's camp kitchen design demonstrates a high degree of adaptability. As the construction progresses, these kitchens can easily be relocated to new work areas, ensuring that workers can enjoy quality dining services no matter where they are. This flexibility not only enhances the quality of life for the workers but also provides solid logistical support for the project team.
